GeoConfirmed is a volunteer-led open-source intelligence (OSINT) platform that specialises in the precise geolocation of visual data from global conflict zones. Originally launched in 2022 to map the war in Ukraine, it has since expanded to cover multiple global hotspots (including Israel, Gaza, Syria, Yemen, and Iran).
The platform’s primary objective is to maintain a peer-reviewed, publicly auditable, and centralized record of conflict events to track situational awareness and actively combat disinformation.
It presents an interactive map plotting different types and kinds of incidents, with a timeline playback over several months to study how events move from one location to the other or change in intensity. There is also order of battle diagrams, spatial analysis tools and a public API.
Geoconfirmed now tracks 17 active conflicts, not just Ukraine.
